Custom welding and hand railings in Yakima
The odd jobs that sit next to a fence: a hand railing, a pole for a shade sail, a bracket nobody sells. Dustin Owen looks at the request himself and tells you what he can build.
Chapter 01
The odd jobs other fence companies pass on
MF Fencing describes its own work as “residential Fencing & things related to fencing such as hand railing.” That second half is the part that fills this page. A fence job in Yakima comes with edges: a gate post that needs a bracket, a railing beside a step, a pole standing on its own in a yard. Dustin Owen takes those on instead of handing them back.
LeeAnn Delk put the pattern in plain words in her Google review: “They were the only company willing to do the custom fence I wanted.” She wrote that every other company she called said it would be “too much work,” and that MF Fencing “was excited to do it.” That is the kind of request this service line exists for.
Jim Hilton hired the crew for chain link and for the poles that hold up his shade sail. His review ends with a line Dustin could put on the truck: “I would recommend MF Fencing for fencing or just a pole in the ground.” Nobody has to be buying a full fence to call.

How a specialty request starts: a sketch and a picture
The clearest example is a mailbox hanger. On September 24, 2026, Dustin posted about a customer whose mailbox had been “demolished by a super good driver.” The customer needed a new hanger. Dustin asked him to draw what he had in mind and send a picture. The customer did, in pen on notebook paper, and the finished piece is a galvanized hanger welded onto the gate post beside his gravel road.
In Dustin's words: “I was able to put it together same day. He was very happy with the product as was I.” Same day is what happened on that job, not a promise for every job. What carries over is the order of things. You describe it, or draw it, or send a photo. Dustin looks it over, says what will work, and gives you a straight answer.
That matches how his customers describe his bids. Jim Hilton wrote that Dustin “came out and looked the job over asked what I was thinking. He made suggestions that made everything work better.” A sketch on paper gets the same treatment. When Dustin posted the hanger, he closed with an open door: “Any specialty request like this, dont hesitate to ask us at MF fencing.”
Chapter 03
Hand railings, posts and poles: the part you don't see
A railing or a pole has one job, which is to stay exactly where it was put. Most of what decides that is underneath and behind the visible part: the post, the weld, the footing. Cindy Byrne wrote about the same thing on her cedar fence, praising “the hidden strength of the metal posting.” The pretty surface gets the compliments. The metal under it does the standing.
Jim Hilton's shade-sail poles went in alongside his chain link, and he wrote that the crew “was on time and competed the in one day.” A pole in the ground, a post set for a gate, a railing at a step.
